In celebration of Nowruz, ELahe Omidyar Mir-Djalali Lecture Series on Paradeisos: Origins and Historical Development of Persian Gardens presented by Professor Mohammad Gharipour.

Mohammad Gharipour is Professor at the School of Architecture and Planning at Morgan State University in Baltimore, USA. He obtained his Master’s in architecture from the University of Tehran and his PhD in architecture and landscape history at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.  He has taught in five American universities and has received more than thirty prestigious grants and awards including Hamad Bin Khalifa Fellowship in Islamic Art, the Spiro Kostof Fellowship Award from the Society of Architectural Historians, National Endowment in Humanities, Foundation for Landscape Studies, and Council of Educators of Educators of Landscape Architecture. Dr. Gharipour is the director and founding editor of theInternational Journal of Islamic Architecture. He has published nine books.  His latest volume titled, Gardens Renaissance and the Islamic Empires: Encounters and Confluences, was recently published by the Pennsylvania State University Press.
