Please join us as Emer O’Dwyer, recipient of a 20th Century Japan Research Award in the Gordon W. Prange Collection presents “Exposed!: 'Disclosure Magazines' in Post-Surrender Japan”

 

 

Emer O’Dwyer is Assistant Professor of Japanese History in the Departments of History and East Asian Studies at Oberlin College. She specializes in twentieth century Japanese history with research interests in imperial, urban, and social history. Her book entitled, Significant Soil: Settler Colonialism and Japan’s Urban Empire in Manchuria will be published by Harvard Asia Center Press in March 2015. Dr. O'Dwyer's current book project is entitled "Searching for Truth in Occupied Japan."

Dr. O’Dwyer holds an A.B. in East Asian Studies from Harvard College and a Ph.D. in History and East Asian Languages also from Harvard. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard’s Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies during the 2010-2011 academic year, and a Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress between 2011 and 2012. She is a member of Cohort III of the U.S.-Japan Network for the Future sponsored by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation with support from the Japan Foundation.
