Explore Digital Tools for Research: An Open House at the Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture

Art | College of Arts and Humanities Tuesday, September 20, 2016 12:00 pm Art-Sociology Building, 4213 Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture

Have you heard about the “digital turn” or digital humanities and would like to know more? Come to the Michelle Smith Collaboratory in Art History to explore projects and possibilities with digital tools at one of the premier resources on campus for the digital humanities community!  Director Quint Gregory (ARTH) and Prof. Purdom Lindblad (MITH) will give comments.

The Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture contains a floor-to-ceiling curved projection surface and an impressive technology package to support ambitious, creative projects from scholars of myriad disciplines.  Come explore innovative new ways of visualizing and communicating ideas and research in the study of visual culture, such as effective virtual reality and intricate interactive displays.  The space functions as a classroom like no other on campus, and as a lab, where collaboration from all disciplines is encouraged.

Light refreshments will be served.  All are welcome!

Directions:

Take elevator to 4th floor. Step off to the right, and to the right again down a short hallway and through the double doors. Continue down this hall to the red wall. A glass door to the left gives entrance to a lounge, wherein you will find the entrance to the Collaboratory (room 4213A).
