Intellectual Communities

  • Digital Humanities
    MITH, or the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities, is the University's primary intellectual hub for scholars and practitioners of digital humanities, electronic literature, and cyberculture. This year MITH celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting Digital Humanities 2009, drawing an international community of field experts to the UM campus to discuss topics such as digital world preservation.
  • Language
    UM’s program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NACS) offers research and training opportunities in neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience and computational neuroscience. The Language Group in the NACS program spans faculty in the Departments of Linguistics, Hearing and Speech Science, English, Biology, and Computer Science, making one of the largest groups of researchers on the psychology of language in the United States.
