ARABIC STUDIES MAJOR WINS UMD TRAVEL GRANT

Maryam Elbalghiti wins a UMD Erik B. Young Travel-Study Award.

Congratulations to Arabic Studies major Maryam Elbalghiti ’12 for winning a $2500 award from the Erik B. Young, M.D. International Travel-Study Awards. She will go to Egypt for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.
 
Each year since 2006, the Division of Student Affairs at UMD awards five travel study awards to undergraduates to give deserving students the opportunity to broaden their international horizons while they hone their academic skills.  

There were over 100 applicants across campus this year and only five scholarships awarded. Past ARHU winners include:

2009 - Ian Gross (SLLC, Chinese)
2008 - Rebecca Yu (SLLC, French)
2007 - Krysten Connon (SLLC, German)
2006 - Erin Reddy (Women’s Studies)
