Driskell Center Hosts Award-Winning Global Journalist

World-renowned journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault will lecture at the David C. Driskell center on Wednesday, April 9th.

By Wanda Jackson, The Sentinel.

"Two, four, six, eight. We don't want to integrate." And, racial epithets. That's what an increasingly agitated crowd of students chanted outside her dorm room on the University of Georgia campus in Atlanta one September night in 1961. On another night, a brick and a soda bottle came crashing through her window.

On Wednesday, April 9, at 6 p.m., Hunter-Gault will speak at the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. The Center is located in the Cole Student Activities building. The lecture is free, but reservations are required by Friday, April 4, by phone at 301.314.2615 or email at driskellcenter@umd.edu.
