The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Maryland College Park is celebrating its tenth anniversary this season. This weekend, a performance of a new piece by Dr. Ysaye Barnwell will serve as the centerpiece of this year-long anniversary celebration.  

Fortune’s Bones: A Manumission Requiem
 is a cantata for large chorus, orchestra, soloists, and African bells, which tells the story of an enslaved African who served a doctor in Connecticut until his death in 1798.
