Dr. Ysaye Barnwell talks to WYPR about "Fortune's Bones."
By Maryland Morning
The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Maryland College Park is celebrating its tenth anniversary this season. This weekend, a performance of a new piece by Dr. Ysaye Barnwell will serve as the centerpiece of this year-long anniversary celebration.
Fortune’s Bones: A Manumission Requiem is a cantata for large chorus, orchestra, soloists, and African bells, which tells the story of an enslaved African who served a doctor in Connecticut until his death in 1798.
