Known for her novels about life in Africa, Nigerian-born author Chimamanda Adichie has been invited to speak at the University of Maryland, College Park on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The free talk is open to the public and hosted by the College of Arts and Humanities as part of its Worldwise Arts & Humanities Dean’s Lecture Series.

Adichie, who is working on her third book, was not available for an interview before her visit.

However, Arts and Humanities Dean Bonnie Thornton Dill said the English department’s African American/African Diaspora studies program recommended inviting her.

“They were interested because of her creativity and her work introducing people to African culture and history,” Dill said.“She’s [also] won quite a bit of acclaim for her writing.”
