"Traffic congestion prevented the Palestine Liberation Organization ambassador from attending a scheduled discussion at Stamp Student Union yesterday afternoon, but Maen Rashid Areikat's absence didn't stop an audience of about 120 from discussing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on their own. Yoram Peri — director of the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies, which sponsored the event — took over the discussion and asked for students' opinions on the decades-long dispute, saying it is important for young people in particular to hear all sides of the issue and to engage in discussion. Areikat's visit was to have complemented an Oct. 14 on-campus speech from Israeli ambassador Michael Oren at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center."
