University of Maryland, College Park, junior Christina Crawford said a campus town hall meeting about public safety changed her mind about why police poke around college parties.
 "Police are concerned about safety. Now I don't think they're out to crash every party," said Crawford, 20, of Glen Burnie. "Seeing [the police's] side of it definitely changed my mind."
 Eight UM students in a communication class organized a town hall meeting about crime and safety April 6 on campus in an effort to foster communication between students, university and Prince George's County Police and university officials.
 "There is tension between students and the community. We want to open the lines of communication between the community," said senior Janee Banks, 21, a student in the class.
