The David C. Driskell Center: Preserving African American Art

David C. Driskell is regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on African American art. An artist, scholar and collector, Dr. Driskell has spent his life's work bringing to light the accomplishments of African American artists who were often overlooked throughout history. As a true gem on campus and in the Washington metropolitan area, The David C. Driskell Center provides access to students, faculty, staff and visitors from across the world to learn about the richness and diversity of visual arts and culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora. While it stands to collect, present and document African American art for future generations, it also serves as a space for its celebration.
