Career
Exploration
Career exploration begins within a student's academic
department (major). Students should meet with faculty and
advisors who can guide them and provide information as to the
possible career choices within their field.
When exploring careers, students should pursue
their interests. With their interests in mind, students should
do research (library and online) to explore
their career options. Students in the Arts and Humanities
have many options open to them, including careers in law,
business or medicine.
Students
can enhance their career exploration
by utilizing the career development services available in the
Career Center. The Center
offers career development services, career counseling, workshops,
courses, special programs, a Career & Employment Resource
Room, an extensive web site (http://www.careercenter.umd.edu),
and a Credentials File Service in support of graduate school and
employment applications.
Students
can further their career exploration through career counseling.
Students in the College of Arts and Humanities should meet with, Stacy H. Brown,
the ARHU Program Director in the Career Center.
As liaison to the College of Arts and Humanities, the ARHU Program
Director plans various career workshops and information sessions
specifically tailored for students in our College. Be sure to look online at the Career Center Events for upcoming workshops and career fairs.
