Advising & Registration Tips
Before being advised:
  1. Read the Undergraduate Catalog, which explains university policies and procedures.
  2. Learn the CORE curriculum.
  3. Read College handbooks/guidebooks which give you information about the College and your major. The ARHU miniguide is available at 1120 Francis Scott Key Hall, the
    Office of Student Affairs.
  4. Learn about the requirements for your major.
  5. View your College/department's website for information on your requirements, advising and registration. Pay particular attention to the Frequently Asked Questions page.
  6. Before an advising appointment, prepare:
    • an academic plan
    • a list of items to be discussed
    • a list of questions to ask
    • a proposed schedule of classes see #3 under "Before Registering".
    • all necessary forms for the appointment.
  7. Become aware of what Academic Advising is and the Rights and Responsibilities of students and advisors.

 

 

 

 

Before registering:
  1. Know what CORE, College, and Major requirements you need to fulfill, if unsure meet with a College and/or a Major advisor.
  2. Check Testudo for
  3. Prepare a schedule of classes that:
    • fulfills CORE, College, and Major requirements (check for prerequisites);
    • meets academic and/or personal interests;
    • is balanced, based on your commute time, work hours,
      personal responsibilities, allowing time for meals and study
      .

  Then register on Testudo. If you waitlist any classes, be sure to check it every day.
