What is ELMS?

ELMS is an online environment for teaching and learning. In ELMS, instructors can house all of their course materials (documents, audio, video, images, etc) and create online spaces in which their students can interact. Students log into ELMS with their directory ID and password. ELMS is the University’s iteration of the Blackboard Academic Suite.

What does ELMS do?

ELMS provides a central, standardized location for all course management on campus, providing web-based access to course materials such as syllabi, content materials, schedules, discussion groups, gradebooks, online classrooms with live chat, blogs, podcasting, wikis, etc.

How can ELMS help me?

  • Create and grade tests and quizzes
  • View your class roster and email your students
  • Allow students to submit their papers electronically
  • Upload and organize class documents to share with students (handouts, assignments, etc)
  • Facilitate student interaction with a discussion board
  • Host class from a remote location in Wimba Live Classroom
  • Implement a course calendar
  • Share important course announcements with students
  • Create a course blog, wiki, or individual blog for your students
  • Incorporate voice interactions into your classroom
