Google Reader is a popular news feed aggregator that is capable of reading feeds in both Atom and RSS, online and offline. Google Reader is available for free to all users with a Google account.

What does Google Reader do?

As a news (or web) feed aggregator, Google Reader constantly gathers updates from sites which you subscribe to, so that you can keep up with your favorite sites new blog entries, news headlines, updated podcasts, etc. without having to check each site individually. Google Reader reads from RSS or Atom feeds, which are data formats that contain content generated from updates to a website, and displays the feeds in an inbox-like page for easy browsing and organization.
