Zotero

What is Zotero?

Zotero is a free add-on for the Firefox browser that allows you to collect, manage, and cite your research sources.

What does Zotero do?

Zotero captures full bibliographic information from a variety of research websites, including the University of Maryland Library Catalog, Wikipedia, scholarly journals such as JSTOR, etc. and then saves the sources in your web browser so that you can quickly locate and organize your references. If you want to save your research sources directly on your computer, Zotero allows you to store copies directly onto your computer, so you don't have to be online to access your research.

How can Zotero help me?

  • Capture citation information from websites or online articles
  • Translate your citations into different formats (APA, MLA, etc.)
  • Save copies of your research locally onto your computer
  • Export formatted citations into Microsoft Word
  • Organize your research materials by tags, or key words
