Using a Web Browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer)

Login Here

Remote connections via the web are now working again. The first time you connect via a web browser there may be a delay while your browser connects with the new security certificate. Please be patient and wait for the login screen. If you are still unable to connect, please call 301-405-2104 to report the problem.

Please create a bookmark in Netscape or add this page to your favorites in Internet Explorer to easily return to it for future connections to ACS.

Instructions:

To connect to ACS, you need to know your username and context. In nearly all cases, usernames are first initial, last name (e.g., jsmith for Jane Smith). Please call extenstion 52104 if you need help determining your username. The username and context for user jsmith will be: jsmith.dept.arhu.umcp, where "dept" is replaced with the abbreviation for your department. If you do not know your department's abbreviation, you can find it at http://www.arhu.umd.edu/technology/acs/documentation/context.html

  1. Click on Login Here at the top of this page to login into the server.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your username (full context required) and password. If you do not remember your password, call 5-2104 to request that it be reset.
  3. After successfully loging in you will see a list of departments. Click on the link to your department.
  4. Click on your username to connect to your home directory .

To download a file from your home directory to your local computer, click on the file name and if it is in any format other than html you will be prompted to save the file on your local machine. If the file is an html file, a browser window will open to display the file and you can save it locally by choosing "Save As" from the File menu in your web browser.

To upload a file from your local computer to your home directory, click the "Upload" button. Select the file on your local computer by clicking the "Browse" button, highlighting the file name, and clicking "Open". Once the file has been selected, click upload to copy it to the server.

If you have access to Shared Directories in your department, you can access them remotely by Clicking Here.
