Quicktime Video  Quicktime Movie Player
.mov QuickTime, software that allows you to play and edit various types of media on your computer, includes extremely efficient compressors which allow streaming of video, audio and photographic virtual reality. (Files created on a Mac must be "flattened" for playback on Windows.) 
MPEG Video Quicktime Movie Player .m15, .m1a, .m1v, .m64, .mp2, .mpa, .mpg, .mpm, .mpv  MPEG, a file format defined by the Motion Picture ExpertsGroup, is a digital video format designed for progressive download, which can be accelerated with hardware. Typically, movies presented in .mpg formatare higher resolution and better quality than the equivalent QuickTime versions.
Video For Windows (AVI)  Quicktime Movie Player .avi AVI is the file format for Video For Windows, MicroSoft's digital video technology. QuickTime can play these files on MacOS or Windows computers. 
RealMedia RealVideo Real Player Real Player .RM Real Media allows viewing of the film as it arrives at the user's computer- progressive download, eliminating the need to download the film completely before viewing. Real Media format is especially useful for computers with slower Internet connections, such as a 28.8 modem. Video playback is slower (3-6 frames per second) and may be affected by Internet traffic. 
DV  Quicktime Movie Player .midi,.mid DV is the format for DV camcorders and decks. The codec is defined by a consortium and released in variations by a number of third parties to accompany their FireWire cards and DV editing solutions. DV is not a compact format.
