Basics

Launch PowerPoint

1, Launch MS Powerpoint by selecting the Finder window > Applications Folder > Microsoft Office X Folder and double-clicking on the PowerPoint icon

The "Project Gallery" window opens. From this window you have two options. You can select "Powerpoiont Presentation" or "Autocontent Wizard."

Autocontect Wizard provides content ideas and an organizational scheme to help you get started with a specific type of presentation such as a brainstorming session, training, strategy session or business plan presentation. This tool proves most useful for business presentations or for use when facilitating a meeting. ''

 

2. Select "Powerpoint Presentation" and click "OK." You will see a "slide layout" dialog box.

From this dialog box you can select layout templates intened to facilitate your intended content for the slide.

Adding Content using Slide Layouts

Browse the layout options. Notice that you can include images, text, video and audio, clip art. Notice that the various components such as organization chart, chart and clip art can be added from within Powerpoint. However, Picture and Media Clip content must be imported from a file outside of Powerpoint.

3. Select Bulleted List from the slide layout dialog box.

You can select Format Menu > Slide Layout to apply an alternate layout to a slide if you change your mind.

4. Select Format Menu > Slide Layout and change the layout to a Blank slide.

Apply MS Design template to your presentation

If you wish to add color to your presentation you can use the given templates by selecting Format > Slide Design.

5. Select Format > Slide Design.

A list of MS PowerPoint Design templates appears.
6. Select Shimmer.

7. Select Slide Show Menu > View Show and you should have a presentation that is one slide long with no content.

8. Select View Menu > Master > Slide Master

You can customize all aspects of your slide master. These changes will apply to each slide in your presentation.

Change Background color

9. Format Menu > Slide background

Change Slide color scheme incuding font, accent and hyperlink colors

10. Format Menu > Slide Color Scheme > Custom

Change Fonts

11. Select the text level you would like to change and select Format Menu > Font

Adding an action button

12. Select Tools Menu > Action Button > Home

Drawing in the slide master

Select View menu > Toolbars > Drawing. You can use shapes to create a custom design or you can Select Format menu > Colors and Lines to modify the drawings that were part ofthe MS template.
