Launch Word

Open Syllabus275.doc (or .rtf or .txt)
Add links
File, save as word file for archival purposes, yournamesyllabus.doc,
and save as html (or WebPage) yournamesyllabus.html

View HTML Source

 

Upload to Server on the Internet (Step 4 from Overview)

Launch Netscape

Log into WebSpinner: http://cgi.umd.edu/WebSpinner

Change Preferences

Use text to indicate directories in Directory List (Ex. [DIR] subdir1)

Preferences button
    Show Directory Structure- yes Format 2

Make directory for coursematerials- name it ARTH475

Create New File using syllabus saved from Word, use style

 

Editing Files already on the Server

Edit Index.html from home directory, apply style, add text to body of Document

 

Mark-up for Browser (Step 3 from Overview), text with images- use Composer

From Netscape, File Menu, New Blank page, type in info:

Cotton cloth Asante, Ghana, Fowler Museum of Cultural Heritage

Insert Image: Kente_Cloth.jpg

Save file: cloth.html

 

Upload to Server on the Internet (Step 4 from Overview)

Return to WebSpinner page

Create new file, browse to select cloth.html

Preview

Create new file, image file: Kente_Cloth.jpg

 

Uploading Other Files

Create New File using examquestions saved from Word.

 

Editing Files already on the Server

Major edits- go back to word document, upload again.

Minor edits- open file in webspinner, make changes directly in doc window avoiding html tags.
