Orientation

All incoming freshmen and transfer students must attend Orientation prior to their first semester at UM.

Register for Orientation

• Call 301-314-8217 or visit the Orientation web page to register;
• As orientation dates are major specific, students should ask which dates* are reserved for their specific major;
• For students who are unsure and/or want to change majors, contact Admissions at 301-314-8385 before registering for a date;
• Students are expected to take the Math Placement Test prior to orientation

Orientation preparation

• Freshmen will have a two day orientation with an overnight stay in a
  residence hall between days one and two;
• Transfer students will have a one day orientation;  
• Working students should plan to request the full one or two days off from work

During orientation

• Students meet with ARHU advisors in small groups;
• Students register for classes;
• Students’ transfer courses are evaluated**
