We are pleased to invite you to the Driskell Center for a panel discussion where accomplished and influential scholars, artists, and art professionals will help to unpack and illuminate the powerful work of Kara Walker.

Panelists will explore Kara Walker’s imagery as a point of departure for discussing issues of slavery, race, sexuality, violence, and gender, among others.

Moderator: Dr. Michele Wallace – Professor of English at the Graduate Center at CUNY

Panelists:
• Dr. Ira Berlin - American Distinguished University Professor of History, University of Maryland
• Dr. La Marr Jurelle Bruce - Assistant Professor, Department of American Studies, University of Maryland
