Immigration in Film Series: "Daughters of the Dust"

As part of its Immigration in Film Series and in honor of Black History Month, the Center for the History of the New America will offer a free screening of the critically acclaimed film, "Daughters of the Dust."

Daughters of the Dust is a 1991 independent film written, directed and produced by Julie Dash. It tells the story of three generations of Gullah women at the turn of the 20th century and focuses on the family's migration from the Sea Islands to the American mainland.
