Voices of Social Change: A Conversation with Angela Davis

College of Arts and Humanities | The Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Thursday, September 24, 2015 6:00 pm Adele H. Stamp Student Union, Grand Ballroom

"Radical Simply Means 'Grasping Things at the Root"

Angela Davis is a powerful voice for the oppressed. As a feminist and civil rights activist, Davis' life has revolved around resistance to injustices, reminding us all to contest the narrative that change has come only as a result of heroic individuals, and instead recognize ourselves as part of a collective movement.

Davis uses her world-renowned voice to advocate for the abolishment of the prison industry complex, which she argues is the "most dramatic example of the destructive tendencies of global capitalism."

Tickets for the event will be available starting on Tuesday, September 8th at The Stamp Ticket Office by Hoff Theatre. No ID required. Limit one ticket per person.

Special thanks to: Omicron Delta Kappa William L. Thomas Lecture.

Supporters for this official Fearless Ideas event include: Alumni Association, Stamp Special Events, OMES, LGBT Equity, College of Arts & Humanities, Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Department of Residence Life, Department of Women's Studies, and the Office of Community Engagement.
