Grunig Gala

The Grunig Gala lecture series was created by Dr. Elizabeth L. Toth, Ph.D, Professor.The Grunig Gala honors James E. Grunig and Larissa A. Grunig, Professor Emeritus, at the University of Maryland, for their seminal contributions to the field of public relations. The Grunig Gala is intended to honor the Grunigs by continuing to enrich the education of Maryland's public relations students.

The Ninth Annual Grunig Gala will feature Katie Paine as our keynote speaker. She is CEO and international expert on public relations, marketing communications, and social media measurement. University of Maryland communication students and alumni will also participate in a networking hour featuring roundtable speakers from corporations like Under Armour, American Airlines and Edelman. The event will conclude with a reception. In the past, this event allowed students to meet people from top companies and truly learn about the communication field. We expect this year’s event to be no different. Your attendance would mean so much to us, especially to meet and speak with the Grunigs and our keynote speaker prior to the event. This will provide you with a chance to speak with about 200 communication students and alumni from one of the nation’s top public relations programs, noteworthy roundtable speakers and enjoy a reception afterward.
