TDPS Alum and Faculty Member Win 2023 Helen Hayes Awards

Costume designer Jeannette Christensen '17 and Associate Professor Jared Mezzocchi were recognized for their achievements in costume design and media/projections design, respectively.

Congratulations to TDPS alum Jeannette Christensen '17 and Associate Professor Jared Mezzocchi, who won the 2023 Helen Hayes Awards Monday night at a ceremony at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. 

Christensen was recognized for “Outstanding Costume Design – Helen” for GALA Hispanic Theatre’s production of “ON YOUR FEET! La historia de Emilio y Gloria Estefan ¡En español!” Mezzocchi was recognized for “Outstanding Media/Projections Design – Hayes” for Round House Theatre’s production of “We declare you a terrorist....” Notably, media and projections design was a new category this year. 

The awards celebrate phenomenal work in the theater community of D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Eight TDPS alumni and faculty were nominated for the prestigious award.
