This semester, students in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies’ (TDPS) Musical Theatre Workshop performed Stephen Sondheim’s “Our Time” from the musical “Merrily We Roll Along.” The performance is part of Signature Theatre’s Sondheim Legacy project, which pays tribute to the legendary composer through artists, audiences and fans singing or speaking the lyrics of every Sondheim song before the end of their 22-23 Sondheim season in July.

TDPS alum James Gardiner, who serves as the theater’s deputy director of marketing and director of creative content, reached out to his former musical theater professor, Scot Reese, about the opportunity for his students. Together they chose “Our Time,” a breathtaking song perfect, as Gardiner said, “for students on the precipice of entering 'the real world.'”
